Our origins

My journey to specialty coffee almost didn’t happen. Growing up in Singapore, coffee was part of my everyday routine—usually a dark, rich “Kopi C Kosong”. Perhaps like many others, I thought quality coffee came from big names like Starbucks or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Back then, coffee was meant to be strong, comforting, and bold. It was something to kickstart the day, not to analyze or reflect on.

Then one day, a friend brewed me a cup of specialty coffee to try. I remember my experience rather well. Instead of the deep, robust taste I was used to, I was met with sour, acidic flavors that left me… puzzled. I couldn’t understand why anyone would drink coffee like this. Specialty coffee, I thought then and there, was definitely not for me.

It wasn’t until 2018 that I stumbled upon a cup that would change everything. This time, it was at OLLA Specialty Coffee, and each sip revealed flavors I never thought coffee could have. Fruity notes, subtle layers, an incredible complexity—this was a completely different experience. That one cup sparked something in me and ignited my curiosity. I ended up working with the talented team at OLLA, learning everything I could and uncovering the craft of specialty coffee.

Fast forward to the circuit breaker. With everyone WFH and time on my hands, I decided to further my understanding of coffee and start experimenting with roasting, diving deep into the process to understand how every step—every minute of heat, each phase of roasting—unlocks new flavors. Roasting coffee became an experience and journey to transform coffee beans into something extraordinary; a drink that could speak so much through its flavours.

Today, our micro roastery is dedicated to recreating that same “wow” moment for others. We’re here to show you that coffee can be more than a quick caffeine fix. Each cup is a chance to explore flavors from across the world—fruity, floral, exciting or complex.
